Red Solo cup....

..... I knew you were so versatile....

You've been around since I can remember.
Probably crashed every party I've ever been.
Your shiny, stackable and easily disposable.

But who would have known you have a flashier, more sophisticated side?

I was at the Lexington KY airport last night and found these from "Y'all products".
Nothing says Howdy Y'all like presenting your guests with a beverage served
in one of these beauties....  HA!!

Now, we don't get quite get that fancy in our home.  My son, his favorite drinking
class is a mason jar.  I. kid. you. not.  This is it.  His one and only.  I only let
him have one, or I'd have mason jars "living" in every part of our home.  He
has to keep track of "him"... and he does.  Its his favorite.  Yes, I know what
your thinking, but he really isn't  a redneck. ;O)

I will say this...  these will never be a staple of my glassware collection.
No if's, ands or Balls.

Do you have a favorite or unusual drinking glass or mug?

The red solo is too funny! But, i must say....my daughter loves her mason jar drinking glass. I do believe they are quite the "rage" for alot of the younger people. They would be cute for that casual garden party!

Now I have that song in my head!

Very funny!! haha. I am embarrassed to say that I just recently discovered the 'Red Solo Cup' song. I know....I am slow to the "party" haha. I happen to loVe mason jars. I keep seeing new ways to use them. I just recently painted one to look like the vintage blue-green to display my mother's day flowers. So cute. Also, I saw screwing them closed with an upside down coffee filter or cupcake liner. It looks like a little pleated ruffle. You can even poke a straw through them. So cute. I do see them set up as drinking cups on 'tablescapes'. I love how versatile they are. Although, I think I stop short at the "wine glass mason jar" that is just funny. I guess my unusual drinking glass tidbit is I have to have a chunky mug for my coffee, but a delicate teacup for my tea. Oh and to me iced tea tastes better in a mason jar. :-D

I don't think Toby Keith knew what kind of fad he started by writing that song, and I swear he had to be drunk when he wrote it.

And making mason/ball jars in to stemware seems a little over the top. Kind of like putting lipstick on a pig.

I actually have "mason jar" mugs. I've used them at various parties. But, not day to day. I don't think I'd like the "stemware" though. I do like me some pretty goblets! But! In past years, I have used small lidded mason jars and filled them with ice tea and/or lemonade. Then I plunked them in big ice filled galvanized tubs. They were a hit at both Natalie's wedding rehearsal dinner in 2012 and Lindsay's grad party last summer. It was fun and really easy.

We both have our own coffee mugs. If someone else happens to drink out of them... lets just say I hate when that happens. It's funny how attached we become to our favorite mugs or glasses. I like the idea of using those small (4 ounce) canning jars for individual desserts. I think they look very cute. We have one restaurant here that serves soda and water in quart sized canning jars. I don't like that at all. The pint size jars would be big enough, but I prefer regular glassware.

I'm not surprised that you saw those fancy cups in KY ;-) I kid!

My mom gave Andrew a handled Mason jar to drink from and I caught myself reaching for it the other day. It does make sweet tea taste even better!
