I've mentioned in the past that I own and enjoy an E~reader.
My first er~eader was the NOOK (B&N) with E~ ink.
If you're not familiar, its basically a black and white, non back lit
reader. The pages resemble real book pages. Its a very basic
model, and I've enjoyed using it.
I originally chose the Nook with E~ink because I wanted something
that was going to be easy on the eyes. Without boring you too much,
I do have eye issues, use corrective lens' and have an eye obstruction
in one eye. So basically, I just didn't need anymore issues to deal with.
To look at me, you'd never know, but to see through my eyes is quite interesting
let me tell ya... SO....The Nook was the perfect option for me.
Fast forwarding to this past Christmas, my hubs decided to surprise me
with the Kindle Fire (Amazon). I even told him I was in no way interested in that
reader because I was concerned the back lit screen was going to bother
and tire my eyes when reading. Well he decided I was getting one anyway... lol.
I have to admit, when I first opened the box I was like... uh... thanks.. but......
He told me to give it a try and see how it went. I'm so glad I did. It is
an amazing device that I can watch movies, tv shows, internet surf, read books..etc., etc....
The Kindle Fire has several options allowing for the page to be black with white
type, white with black type or a beige with brown type. The beige with
brown type is my personal favorite. Its so gentle on my eyes and even though
its back lit (which means I can read in the dark or low lit areas just fine) I have
had NO issues with my eyes. Whoot!
I know many are just not into the E~readers. Some prefer the feel of a book,
turning the pages, etc. I used to feel the same way. In fact I still do at times.
It took very little time for me to become a real fan.
I've shared this site in the past. It is updated daily, sometimes multiple times
a day, and you never know what kind of genre you will find. I have found
and downloaded MANY books for FREE. ( I lurv free) You can also download books
from your local library which is really nice.
The whole reason for this post, is not to sell you on an e~reader.
I just wanted to share my personal experience with the 2 devices in
case anyone is on the fence about choosing one. They are both great
readers, but the Nook is basically (IMO) mostly for reading, where as the
Kindle Fire is more of a multi~purpose device. I still love and use them both.
Do you own an e~reader? Do you have a favorite site for downloading books?
If you have Kindle Fire, do you use Premier? Love for y'all to share.

thanks for sharing your experience with these products. It always helps to know. I think you already know I have nook (non-color). Glad I have it, we share it on certain occasions. Now we also have a family i-pad so that is also great to have too. Sorry don't have any free sites to share with you, I know I should investigate.
Hey Amy, Thanks for the pot information. I'm going to keep my eye out for that. I got a Kindle the Christmas before last. I also was not that crazy about it when I opened it. I love the feel of a book in my hands. But, like you I soon became a fan. I have been reading an author who has many books and I have most of them on my Kindle. Yes, it can be expensive. This past summer I found, ironically, the next 2 books I would need in the series and had not bought on my Kindle yet at a garage sale for something like 25 cents each. Of course I bought them! I have been a bit lax on reading, but am now getting back into it and I MISS my Kindle. Matter of fact I am now looking for her newer books to purchase for my Kindle! But, hmmm....should I ask for a Kindle Fire for next Christmas?? Maybe!
Hi there Amy, My kids went together and purchased a Kindle Fire for me at Christmas time. So far I've read one book with it. My circle of friends pass along books to each other so I think I still prefer reading a regular book. But~~~ I love using the Kindle Fire downstairs while we watch TV together. I like being able to check on blogs, read e'mail, Facebook and play games.
You do check for the free app of the day don't you? I like the puzzle type games such as Quell, Angry Birds and Cut the Rope. Be sure to read reviews before downloading stuff. Quite often the apps want you to give permission/access to your Kindle info that they don't need.
My Premier access expired before I really explored what it had to offer. I don't plan to purchase books to read (for now) so it probably wasn't going to be a good fit for me.
My cousin received her Kindle reader as a gift to help pass time after her mastectomy last month... Well she dropped it on her chest just the day after surgery and hasn't used it yet. She's doing well now, and reading paper books.
Are you on Gooseberry Patches e-mail list? Once in a while they have a free E-cookbooklet link.
I've received a couple and they're OK to look through although I haven't used any of the recipes yet.
Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
As you know I have a Kindle (and still love the cover you made for me). It is the plain Jane original Kindle but I absolutely love it. It fits so nicely into my purse and I often take it wherever I go. They have some really fun games that you can download for free. I will have to check out the link you gave for daily deals. I think I will ask for a Kindle Fire for Christmas though, I like all the extra things it can do.
I fall into that category of enjoying the feel of a real book in my hands. I am sure if I had one of these, my perspective would change. I barely have time to put a blog post together these days much less read a book :(
