I have to say I am about thread count. Anything 400 and up..I do not like satin sheets at all. You can find reasonable sheets at Marshalls, TJ's and Kohls.
I don't have a favorite brand but Kohl's have good sales and when you can combine coupons and loyalty discounts on top of the sale price then you can get high quality sheets at a decent price. Have fun with the bedroom redo.

I usually get my sheets at JC Penny. The thread count matters, nothing below 300 but nothing above 400. I don't like the blends, cotton/poly, they are too slick.
I usually get them from Tjmaxx and try for the highest threadcount in a reasonable price range. So far I have not been disappointed with any sheets purchased there. One thing I do differently now, that I got a new washer and dryer I will pass along is not use dryer sheets. They said that dryer sheets are bad for dryers. They leave a waxy film on the machine and break it down. I was in a panic since I loved the scent. but I have to tell you that my towels, sheets and clothes are SOFTER without the dryer sheets. I only used liquid fabric softener in the wash machine. Just thought I would pass this along. good luck!
We absolutely need sheets because I have bleached them spotted. I once bought some bamboo sheets at Target and LOVED them. They no longer sell them there but I think they are just sold under the title "organic." I plan to buy some at Kohl's when I find a sale, have coupons, etc. like somebody else said.
