Yep, we joined the Y. Hubs and me that is.
Those are my yoga clothes. (man that new camera app on my phone pics up every detail on my pants.)
It started out as just being me, cause I felt like I
Then I got to thinking about how nice it would be to take a few classes together.
I know what some of you are thinking. "My guy would NOT do that."
We both went on Monday to get acquainted with the cardio equipment. It is NICE!
Tuesday we took our first power yoga class. It was the first time either one of us has
ever taken yoga. I dont know what I was expecting, but it was better than I had hoped.
It was in the dark too.. who knew?? Calm music, great stretches, no weird sounds.
Updog, downdog, warrior pose.....I actually know what these are now.. ha!
My core and arms were sore the next day so I know its going to be beneficial.
The very best part is the location. It is in the same entrance as our church and our
daughters school. I can take advantage of dropping her off in the morning and
jumping on the treadmill. OR Arriving early to pick her up and taking a yoga class before
dismissal. I'm really excited about it. Its not one of those gym memberships you buy in January
and you stop going by the end of Feb. This is so much more than a gym and I think
thats why I like it so much.
I guess what I'm getting at.... is..... we tend to forget about ourselves. Or put off
doing things for ourselves. I know I do.
I'm always concentrating on everyone else's needs. If you're a wife, mother, or
caretaker you know exactly what I'm getting at. I know I tend to let those things
identify who I am. I mean they are A PART of who I am, but not the only part.
So, I'm finally taking time for me.. (and my hubby too). Don't forget to spend time
together, sans kids sometimes... when you get the chance.
But most importantly don't forget about you. You deserve it.
Now.... I'm going to go take my own advice. ;O)

Good for you Amy! Exercise is beneficial in so many ways. The obvious one is physical, but I feel mentally energized when I get my exercise in. I am also making exercise a priority right now, and it feels goooood. :)
I so excited for you Amy!! I love my Yoga class, even though it kicks my butt!!
Have Fun!!
It sounds like the perfect arrangement and the facility sounds wonderful. Good for you guys.
Thanks cool that your hubby goes with you. Seems to me it would make it easier to do something like that together. Seems like the perfect setup!
I didn't know whether to comment on this post or the previous one.
So here: Excellent all around. Convenience is key to success!
Previous: Awwwww...
I joined the Y with my parents during my last year of graduate school. I loved it but they soon stopped going with me and I didn't like going alone so I quit after several months. Don't know about yoga but glad you are enjoying it. I wish we had a Y close by to join.
It is SO funny that you wrote this post! Not "haha" funny, but strangely, timely for me! I had been to my Weight Watcher's meeting this week and mentioned how I find it hard to justify time for ME. Iput everybody else first and make do with what is leftover for myself. Which usually ends up being falling asleep on the sofa in front of some bad television.
So, I after much consideration of fitness centers in my area, I also chose to join our YMCA. Although I must work around my altering work schedule, I am looking forward to the classes I plan to take. Scheduling the YMCA right into my calendar along with my work schedule. It is my gift to me.
good for you. love the convenience factor and the double benefit of being with your hub. great advice too
So excited for you. Can't believe your hubby goes to yoga with you. What a guy. I LOVE yoga, it is such a great workout, but so relaxing at the same time. I feel so good when I do it. I just need to do it more often.
