Vintage Rick Rack makes cute flowers

I found this vintage rick rack at an antique sale and I knew
exactly what I was going to do with it.  I have seen some
really cute rick rack flowers and I had big plans to incorporate
those into a few projects I'm working on.

They really are simple to make.  I admit they take a little patience and time,
but they are the perfect sitting on your front porch sipping a glass of sweet
tea kinda project.

I cut a piece of felt.  Threaded a needle with coordinating thread and
started attaching the rick rack to the felt.  I attached it at the bottom on
each loop (closely together) directly to the felt.  At first, I was
thinking.. hmmm.. this doesn't quite look right, but I kept going,
and by the second row, things started looking a lot like this.

Note:  These flowers are easier made with older soft rick rack.
The new rick rack can be quite stiff and a little harder to work with.

Keep on ... keeping on.. and when you get to the center secure it tightly, and
it should look a lot like this.   You can see some darkening of the rick rack
here and there.  That's because it OLD!   The good thing is the camera picks
this up A LOT more than the naked eye.  You'll see at the end of the post,
its not as noticeable, and actually adds character.

The back will look like this.

Since I like the back of my projects to look as nice as the front, I added
2 more pieces of felt (with hot glue) to not only cover up the stitches,
but to give it more stability.  I also added this pin.

Here it is all finished.  I added a covered button (with hot glue) to the middle.
Its the perfect finishing touch.  It's going to coordinate nicely with another
project I'm working on.   More on that later.

Cute huh?

Oh my goodness, that is so stinkin' cute.

I went back and checked the settings on my blog and I had mistakenly clicked on 'invited readers only'. It is now fixed, I hope.

I still can't comment as having a google account, that is why my comment came up anonymous. The is the only way I can comment on your blog for some reason.
It's wierd though, some blogs let me comment with my google account without having to put in my email and password. I guess my comment will be coming in anonymously until they fix whatever is wrong.

Miss stopping by... Have a great holiday weekend!

p.s. I'm having a ribbon loop giveaway in honor of PS 3rd birthday. It makes great flowers, too.

Cute and fairly easy - can't beat that! I can think of a bunch of projects I'd like to try this on! Can't wait to see what your coordinating project is!

Wow I am equally impressed with both flowers. Your demo flower is adorable and your rose photo on your heading actually made me gasp, it is so beautiful. Great job on both, so creative.
