Cast of Characters:
(1) Styrofoam ball (any size you want.. to me the bigger the better!)
Fabric 1/4 - 1/2 yard (depends on size of ball, and size of squares
obviously the larger the ball, the more fabric you will need)
White glue
Sharpened pencil
scissors
(Project time: 30 minutes~includes cutting fabric)
Cut the fabric (your favorite color) into squares. Mine were roughly
1 1/2" x 1 1/2".
I guesta~measured. Yes that's a word, I just made it up.
I think the recommended size is 2"x2", but I was using scrap, and I was
afraid I would run out. You decide what works best for you.
Grab a fabric square, and a pencil, put the pencil point in the center of
fabric square, dip the point in white glue, and push it right into the
styrofoam ball. You want to push it in enough to stay, but you want to
leave plenty sticking out. You can skip the glue part, but the glue will
help aid in keeping the fabric in place for the long haul.
(yes, my poor hands/nails need a manicure, but I can't seem to keep them out of
dirt, paint, glue, etc... oh bother)
It should start to look like this. It really starts to go together fast.
I kept my little bity "urn" available to keep checking on my progress.
It is best (IMO) if you only go just to the edge of the urn, bowl, etc. that
you plan to put your finished "flowers" in. It just sits nicely without
the fabric getting in the way. Be sure to do a once over when you've
finished, to cover up any white peeking through. I didn't find this
to be much of an issue.
All finished! I think these would make great centerpieces!

How neat! I think I can definitely handle doing this. I wonder what I can use besides an urn? I'll buy one if I need to, but it would be great if I can find something around the house that I have first :)
Very cute Amy. You have many tricks up your sleeves, I am impressed. I look forward to each post to see what your talents have brought forth. Love it.

Excellent! I'm so hoping I have a Styrofoam ball...I think I do. Love it.
Oh, very cute! I just bookmarked something similar from the Idea Room this morning. Can't wait to try them. I may do this with the kiddos for Valentines day!
Love it! I'm gonna have to give this a try :)
